COVID-19 Update

14-April-2020

Cliantha Research has been identified as an essential workplace in response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and we are continuing to conduct clinical research studies important to the advancement of medical research during this time.

Cliantha Research understands that the emergence of COVID-19 is concerning to our study participants. Protecting our employees and our participants is most important to us.

We are monitoring relevant Public Health authority, World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and follow closely their guidelines on routine practices and additional precautions for preventing the transmission of infection in health care settings.

To ensure the safety of our staff, participants and visitors, we are encouraging everyone to practice recommendations from the relevant authorities. Additionally, to protect yourself and others, we ask that you contact us prior to study screening or visits at our facilities if any of the following applies to you:

  • 1. you are currently experiencing, or have experienced within the last 14 days, any cold/flu like symptoms
  • 2. you have had contact with someone who has tested positive with COVID-19 or is a presumed case of COVID-19
  • 3. you have travelled to any country outside of Canada or the province of Ontario
  • 4. you have been in contact with someone who travelled to any country outside of Canada or the province of Ontario

Please note that these questions will be asked of all participants on the telephone and during all clinic visits. If you answer yes to any of the above, our team will inform you if you should attend or cancel your visit. A Nurse Practitioner may require additional information from you if required.

Cliantha Research has implemented the following precautions at our clinics:

  • Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the facilities.
  • To minimize exposure at our facilities, we are conducting targeted pre-screening questionnaires to all study participants and guests.
  • Institution of frequent cleaning and sanitizing of our facilities and clinic area alcohol wipe downs.
  • During study visits, we are reducing the number of volunteer appointments and ensuring that social distancing guidelines are followed.

Cliantha continues to conduct business while carefully monitoring the COVID-19 situation. We have taken our role of research stewards seriously and have put in place many measures to ensure safety of our staff and our research participants. Please know that we are committed to sharing the most recent information and any business changes.
